Update

Has it seriously been over 2 years since I've updated this blog? Yes, sadly, it has. I have come to accept that A. Our lives are way too boring to blog about and B. I pretty much despise blogging. Ha! I figured it was time to update this so people don't think we are dead.

Chad started PT school at Touro in 2010 so he is now in his second year. Although it has been pretty difficult both being in school, he is enjoying it. As with any new program, there are bumps along the way, but he is doing well in school and just can't wait to start his clinicals and get out of the classroom! Our schedules never seem to line up! It seems like every time I get a break, he has tests and when he gets a break, I am busy! We are coming up with some new ideas every day of how we can both have our own practices and things we can do together to make it unique.

As for me - I am in my second month of my 4th year! I have taken (and passed!) all of the tests I need to in order to graduate from medical school. I just have to do rotations through April 2012 and I will be graduating! I am applying for residencies right now. I have decided that I want to go into Family Medicine.... gasp! For those of you who are thinking I am insane right now, I know already! If you would have told me I was going to do this a year ago, I would have laughed at you! It actually wasn't a difficult decision because as soon as I even contemplated going into Family Medicine, it just felt right. I love the fact that you can make everyday different and your patients can be any age group! I really want to do OB in my practice and a lot of procedures, so that means I am going to go to a rural program and will most likely be practicing in a rural (ish) area.

The entire process of getting a residency is kind of complicated. I have to apply, go to interviews, and then rank my residencies and enter the Match. This is just basically taking my rank list and comparing it to the rank lists of the residencies. If I rank a program #1 and they rank me #1, I match at that residency. There are way more complicated details, but that is the general idea. I am going to be gone for the next three months starting in September. I am going to go do audition rotations in Utah and Idaho. Chad will be able to be with me for 3 wks in Pocatello, but we will be apart for the rest of the time. I don't really want to complain because most of my other friends are doing this same thing (or worse)... but, sad!

I know blogs are super boring without pictures, but we seriously haven't taken any pictures for a very long time. Paul, you were right - I am getting haggard in medical school! :-) Maybe I'll take a picture of Chad studying at the table so you can really see how amazingly interesting we are right now.
